If you would like to make new smilies or other small graphics available to your members for posts, take advantage of our custom smilie upload feature. This feature can also be used to upload rank images and even images to display in the Portal custom HTML areas just like we do on the Support Portal.
Custom Smilies and Images
Go to your admin panel and select General Admin -> Upload Smilies. The top section will allow you to upload new icons from your computer and the bottom section lets your see and manage your set of uploaded icons.
To upload, use the top section. Hit Browse and locate the image from your computer and select it. You may optionally use the Name controls to rename the file, and optionally may select to automatically add image to smilies list if this upload is for a smilie. Hit Submit and it should work.
After uploading go to General Admin -> Smilies to define and edit smiley codes.
If you selected the "Automatically add to forum Smilies" checkbox during upload, you'll see the smilie code that was automatically added based on the name of the image file. You can edit the smilie code to be something shorter or more appropriate as needed.
If you don't see your new smilie on this page, you'll need to click the "Add a new Smiley" button, where you can configure and add a new one.
To delete an uploaded image, simple check it and select the Delete Marked button.
Custom Rank Images
Also note that you can use the steps described above to upload images for use with User Ranks. To do this, use the General Admin -> Upload Smilies page to upload some small images for use with ranks. Set the "Automatically add to forum Smilies" checkbox to off, since these images will be for use with ranks and not smilies.
After uploading the image, right-click on the uploaded image and use your browser's available options to get it's pathname on the ForumWise server.
This will have a format like:
http://support.forumwise.com/images/smilies/support/icon_king.gif
Go to User Admin -> Ranks and edit or add a new rank.
Where it says "Rank Image (Relative to phpBB2 root path)" set the "Rank Image" with the name of the uploaded image and submit.
The Rank Image should have the following format:
/images/smilies/myboard/myimage.gif
...or...
/images/smilies/myboard/myimage.jpg
Where myboard is replaced with your forum's domain name.
