If I or members are buying credits to have my site be ad free, can I insert my own Adsense ads or advertiser banners etc in the spaces where your ads once were?

No.

Also, what on earth is your vision in this respect anyways? Your members pay to have it ad free yet you want to put your own ads there instead?

He was asking a question. He was not looking for someone to put his idea down.

First of all your unsolicited comment is off topic and completely irrelevant to the subject matter of either the OP or the reply. The question was a legitimate point on topic to the thread and had the OP read the TOS the answer to his question is already there in glaring clarity, and correctly quoted by Jephth.

Well I guess I should have limited the ad free context being limited to me paying for it to be that way. Though I could solicit donations without specifying how they'd be used, other than a Support This Site notation next to the Donate button as some sites do .

I'm looking long term. I don't know what the aim is of the owners of the top 100 forumwise sites for example, but my aim would be to earn income in the end.

Even if I'd read the TOS, it wouldn't be a stretch to halfway assume that I might be allowed to place my own ads on my forum if I were buying credits to keep the ads off. Which is why I asked.

Guess it depends on whether the forumwise owner derives his income more from sales of credits or his Adsense ads, and whether he has any programs that let a forum owner pay a normal monthly hosting rate to allow them to insert their own ads. Which would seem to be a natural option to offer if he wants to attract real business customers instead of teenagers and bored housewives etc.

Evidently he doesn't.

If I'm limited in that degree then I'm probably better off just downloading free phpbb and getting some hosting for it. I wouldn't want to get it going thru one host, then have to switch everyone over..

Not to mention having to endure wise-guy answers on loosely moderated help forums..that just brings to mind every bad thing and warning I've read about 'free forum hosting'..

That one little caveat completely changes the context of the OP as well as the question asked of you. To the best of my knowledge unless Mark is willing to deviate from the established TOS the "Support This Site" concept is limited to your members having the capability of making contributions to assist in making the boards in question free of advertisments.

I have no intention of speaking on behalf of the ForumWise/ForumArena Administrators/Owners but as it is presently structured, if your intent is to make money this host is not what you are looking for.

Even if I'd read the TOS, it wouldn't be a stretch to halfway assume that I might be allowed to place my own ads on my forum if I were buying credits to keep the ads off. Which is why I asked.

It is a stretch, the TOS paragraph relevant to this question is quite clear and offers no exceptions.

Guess it depends on whether the forumwise owner derives his income more from sales of credits or his Adsense ads, and whether he has any programs that let a forum owner pay a normal monthly hosting rate to allow them to insert their own ads. I have no knowledge of nor desire to be apprised of the financial resources of this host - his aspirations are his own and not subject to my nor anyone else's critique, scrutiny or approval. As for the second part of your statement refer to the first statement in this one.

Evidently he doesn't.

The answer to your question was accurate - the answer resides within the ForumWise/ForumArena TOS - it is clearly stated and as I said above offers no recourse for exceptions. That was the simple most accurate, direct reply to your query. My apologies that the answer was not the one you were looking for. I am certain if the Administrator determines this is an area that he would like to make an exception in he will reply to this thread accordingly.
