There are various free chat boxes around which offer you the option to talk in almost real time with others directly from your ForumWise Custom Portal.
After much research and consideration the ForumWise Support moderation team have decided that the software produced by http://xat.com is probably the best to use in respect of the resources available to users of a free forum host (FFH).
The following guide will give you the necessary knowledge to add such a feature to your portal.
1. Go to http://www.xat.com/web_gear/chat.php
2. Select a background picture for your Xat interface, or click the nearby button to upload your own.
3. Select either "small" or "medium" size as large is too big for the Portal.
4. Click "Update & Get Code".
5. Copy the code that now appears beneath and paste it into the Welcome Module on your ForumWise Portal.
6. You have now set up Xat on your Portal.
Additional Notes:
There are a few more optional custom settings available on the same page but these may need a refresh/update of the Xat code.
Any help required with using or moderating your Xat can be retrieved from the http://xat.com/help page.
